Time travelling
The big news this week is that schools may open again in June, but this doesn't necessarily mean that we will be able to return to Guide meetings. If you remember, we had to stop social meetings 2 weeks before schools closed.
There is time for us to help the Nation celebrate VE 75 on Friday, and to have a virtual sleepover at the end of May.
This Friday, the 75th Anniversary of VE Day may not mean much to you youngsters, but there are still lots of Senior Citizens around, including my own parents, who remember the day 75 years ago. They are having a tough time in the lockdown, not even going out for exercise, and having to rely on others to do all the shopping once a week, instead of being able to walk down every couple of days to buy what they fancied for dinner that day. Many of them can't keep in touch with families and friends easily if they don't have smart phones or computer know-how. And they may still not be able to go out and about even after you have gone back to school. Your Promise includes 'Serve the Queen and My Community'
So today's challenge is to do something to cheer up someone from that generation. Firstly, take part in the VE Day celebrations, but also, could you write an actual letter, adding pictures and good wishes? Or perhaps make some scones and take them round (keeping your distance of course)? Do you have another idea that you could share?
I have been told that Guiding are producing a VE 75 Badge, so you will be awarded one if you send a photo showing how you celebrated the day.

Important Note:
Usually we have a points competition based on wearing uniform and bringing various items to Guide meetings. This term however points will be awarded according to how many challenges you complete from these blogs. Only a few girls have earned points so far, so if you have completed a challenge and not sent any evidence, now would be a good time to send it. We are NOT basing it on anything at the Zoom meetings because we know not everyone can take part in these.
