On March 8th it was International Women's Day. A good opportunity to tell each other about women who inspire us. Those chosen included Valentina Tereshkova, JK Rowling and our Grans. A discussion followed about where we see signs of women being treated less than equally. Everyone was asked to think of something they could 'Choose to Challenge', and ideas ranged from name calling in the playground to having confidence that they can do things as well as boys. we have several aspiring writers, but none had noticed the number of women writers who had felt it necessary to publish under their initials rather than their actual name. Does this have anything to do with being taken seriously as a woman writer?

Sunday was Mothering Sunday and your challenge was to make sweets for Mum. We had photos in from 2 of you and I hope that your Mum enjoyed the treats.
Looking forward to summer
As St Patrick's Day is coming up this week we spent s little time making paper shamrocks to display.
Then we imagined going on our summer holidays, ... sandy beaches, sparkling sea, .... and sunburn. After playing a game called Slip Slap Slop, we had a go at creating an advert to teach younger children how to keep safe in the sun. This is not easy over Zoom with some weak internet connections and a short time. Maybe when we can meet together again we can do it better.

Keep your fingers crossed for good weather and the Covid cases going down fast enough for us to meet up on 29th March.
