Food for thought
Later this week its World Food Day, so we had a food themed meeting on Zoom. After playing 20 questions to guess favourite foods, we imagined we were going to run a project to help feed hungry people.
Regular guides were sent pictures of an empty jar and lots of fruit pieces.

The activity: Imagine you are a charity, and are going to run a campaign to do something about reducing hunger.
Talk with your family about what sort of project it might be - eg setting up a food bank, providing water for to help those in poorer countries grow more food, or setting up a local soup kitchen.
Once you have chosen something, you now need to think how to achieve it.
Each fruit in the jar has a meaning and represents an action you would take.
Melon: Plan your campaign
Banana: Evaluate your campaign
Cherries: make posters
Orange: tell people about your campaign
Apple : get other people involved
Now cut out, colour and stick the fruits in the jar, starting at the bottom to show how many of each action you would do, and when in the campaign you would do them.

,Last week we had a competition to design a square that would spread the word about an inspirational Black Woman. We had 5 entries sent in. They were sent to Sparkle Unicorn, who knows a thing or 3 about graphic design and here are the entries with her comments.
Serena Williams- very good visuals, but I'd want to see more of her achievements on here.
Rosa Parks - this one is really informative and clear with plenty of information, and it's a lovely picture in the centre.
Mary Seacole, really neat and clean, could have used more of the space and some visuals
Michelle Obama - great colours, I like the way you are drawn to each fact in turn. I would have added a picture.
Floella Benjamin - This one is my winner. It's visually appealing and I like the creativity of the acrostic.
So 'Well Done! Bravo! Bien Fait! Bien Hace! to Chocolate Koala, your prize will be delivered in due course.
