Spring approaches
This is a bumper edition of the blog because it covers a whole month. With permission from the Government to finally start meeting friends in gardens, life has become very busy.
Ella Puffin has moved up to Rangers.
The School Holidays began and we had some good weather over the holidays. Challenges were set and a few girls sent in their creations. Hermione Koala and Spotty Cat both created home museums and sent in video tours. Unfortunately we can't show videos on here, but they were excellent! Illy Penguin sent in information about 5 local places for us to visit.
Girlguiding provided a Spring Social for us to enjoy on Easter Monday, with a range of fun activities to try.
Before School began again we took part in the District's Virtual Spring Sleepover. Crafts, STEM challenges, puzzles and food creations were all included, along with Lynn's Laughing Yoga to start us off in great style.
Everyone was asked to put a rabbit of some sort in the window or garden and families enjoyed walking round the village to see which ones they could spot. Moonstone and Barny Unicorns helped to put a lot of the ideas together and Sparkle Unicorn did some of the graphics for us.
Inca Puffin had been waiting for a long time to make her Promise at the Zoo, and so, when she was at last able to go with her family, we had a WhatsApp call and she made her Promise standing in front of her favourites - the Okapi.
We returned to Guides again, although it has to be outdoors for the time being, and we are at the mercy of the British weather. High on the wish list for this term are walks and trails. We are lucky to have the grounds of our HQ to meet in, and to be near enough to a park and woodland to extend our environments for more challenges.
Our first meeting back began with practising reef knots and planting sunflower seeds in pots to take home. We had a 'Think about the Promise' Activity and then Pinky Penguin was able to make her Promise after months of waiting to be back with everyone in a real meeting.
Although we've had Promise ceremonies on Zoom, some of the Guides wanted to wait until they could make their Promise in front of a real meeting. So there will be a few more ceremonies in the weeks ahead.
Our second meeting was a Penny Hike. This involves walking until we reach a choice of ways. The penny is tossed and the new direction based upon the result of the toss. When everyone had had a turn at tossing and choosing, the Rangers took over and directed us safely back to the HQ. It was a sunny evening, and we enjoyed the chance for healthy exercise and catching up with friends.

We hope that the weather remains suitable for more meetings in May, and particularly for our Day Camp, the first real chance to earn camp badges since 2018 (it absolutely poured every time we tried in 2019).
