At the end of the term we held a Christmas Party with lots of games, and a chance to chat about our Christmas plans.
Everyone was expecting to go back to school this term, but Covid had other ideas. Most of us are back at home, learning on line. This term we are welcoming 2 new guides who are joining us from Newton Brownies.
The first meeting this term is about looking after our mental health.
Some of our members had a particularly tough time in December, with bereavements, family illnesses, and even themselves needing hospital treatment.
5 things you can do to keep healthy spell CLEAR.
C is connecting with others, which we do each time we join a Zoom meeting
L is learning something new. As Guides we learn a whole variety of new things, without the pressure of completing work to hand in.
E is exercise, so we are going to try to do something active each meeting, and there will be an outside challenge each week for everyone to do on a walk, or in their gardens.
A is for Altruism, which means doing things for others. This is a key part of our Guide Promise, and we'll start this year by talking about good turns we can do.
R is for Reflecting. Taking time to just be quiet and thoughtful, switching off from the stress and worry around us will help us to be resilient when difficult times come along.
If you weren't at the meeting, or lost us part pf the way through, here are the things you can do at home,
1. Go outside for exercise each day. ( keep a record)
2. draw round your hand and divide it into 7 parts, one for each day. Each day, spot a good turn to do (something to help others without being asked or rewarded.) do it, and record it.
3. try out part one of the Meditation Badge (page 48) and write a comment each day about how you got on.
Preparing for future weeks:
find some city maps or travel books
collect junk modelling bits - eg clean packaging and textiles.
Find an Ordnance Survey Map
learn a poem
find something Scottish, something Welsh and something Irish
We asked new girls to choose names, so Here's the up-to-date Patrol List:
Owls: Octopus, Hungry, Lizard, Sugar-Glider, Sausage-Dog, Cute-Koala, Hungry-Piglet
Penguins: Pinky, Illy, Chocolate, Sprinkles, Rainbow, Spotty-Cat, Sleepy-Weasel
Puffins: Spaghetti, Inca, Hermione-Koala, Percy, Rabbit, Ella
Unicorns: Sparkle, Fluffy, Moonstone, Barny. (adults)

Do keep sending in any photos or reports of what you've been up to at home
